The little girl’s tears
The freezing air wisping past me,
The glassy mirror judges me
My dark eyes search for imperfection
What do you see in my reflection?
Don’t you know the one mistake that defines you?
One wrong step and it will break you
How I wish I could run and not be weary
Live my teenage life and not worry.
Stars in the water shine distant and late
Watching them ripple as I listen and wait
Waiting for trust and affection
To see another beside my own reflection.
The little girl cries now
But the misery is very much temporary
I’ll awake tomorrow
And feel a lot less sorry.
Tears elucidate my emotions
But my sweetest smiles will surface
Between the mirrors I see no limitation
Someday you’ll see my true reflection.
